Gymnasts should wear leotards or shorts and a t-shirt. No socks or jewelry. Gymnasts with long hair should tie it back. We kindly ask that all parents remain in the lobby or entry hallway to the gym and do not come into the gymnastics area. This helps to create a safe environment for your children and families.


Please note, child to coach ratio may vary based on the coach's seniority. 


Jungle Gym:

Ages 18 months through 6 years






Movement, melody & me (PARENT/CHILD)

Ages 0-5 years

30 min, Gymnast to coach ratio 6:1

A playful parent/adult and child class where children are joined by their parent, grandparent or special adult as they are guided through creative movement through singing songs & learning about instruments, self-discovery, social interaction and intro to our Jungle Gym gymnastic equipment. One adult 18+ must attend class with their child(ren). Meets in Community Room on 2nd Floor of RFGC and Jungle Gym area.


KOALAS (Parent/Child)

Ages 18 months - 2 years 

30 min, Gymnast to coach ratio 6:1

Parent and child class, children are guided through creative movement, songs, self-discovery and social interaction.  One adult 18+ must attend with each child, no additional siblings are allowed in class. 


MONKEYS (Parent/child)

AGES 3-4 YEARS 45 MIN

Gymnast to coach ratio 5:1 or 6:1 with senior instructor. 3-4 years are joined by their parent, grandparent or caregiver.  Motor skills, social skills, self-awareness and self confidence are developed while learning basic gymnastics skills and movements in this fun environment. 
One adult 18+ must attend class with each Monkey.  No additional siblings are allowed in the gym.  


MONKEYS 4+ 
AGES 4 AND OVER 45 MIN

Children 4-5 years old. Gymnast to coach ratio 5:1 Children that are at least 4 years old and have participated in gymnastics classes before. 
 


TIGERS 

AGES 5-6 YEARS 45 MIN 

Gymnast to coach ratio 5:1 In this fun and positive environment, Tigers will learn basic tumbling, bars and balance beam skills while continuing to focus on positive social interaction and building self-confidence. 


BOYS ONLY

Ages 5-6 Years 45 min,

Gymnast to coach ratio 5:1 Similar to the Monkeys and Tigers class, but the class will introduce children to boys events with use of parallel bars, rings and mushroom (training for pommel horse). 


TWIRL AND TUMBLE
Twirl & Tumble (AGES 3-5) and Twirl & Tumble 5+ (AGES 5-7) 45 MIN

Dance and gymnastics combination class. 45 minutes. Ages 3-5 or 5-7. Beginner ballet shoes recommended. Dancer to Coach Ratio: 5:1.



 




Recreational Classes:

Ages 6 years and up or for students who have mastered skills associated with the following levels


BEGINNER 1

*Beginner 1 classes are split into classes for ages 7+ .  Refer to the schedule for options for each.

Beginning level instruction of basic skills for tumbling, vaulting, uneven bars, and balance beam. No previous experience required. Gymnasts graduating from Tigers (refer to coach recommendation) should register for this class. 55 min, Gymnast to coach ratio 6:1


BEGINNER 2

Beginner 2 class is designed for gymnasts who have had beginning level gymnastics instruction and have passed the Beginner 1 level. 

75 min, Gymnast to coach ratio: 6:1


bEGINNER 3

BEGINNER 3 CLASS IS DESIGNED FOR GYMNASTS WHO HAVE PASSED BEGINNER 2 LEVEL OR CAN PERFORM THE BEGINNER 2 SKILL SET.

75 min, Gymnast to coach ration: 6:1


INTERMEDIATE 1

Intermediate 1 class is designed for gymnasts who have passed Beginner 3 or can perform the Beginner 3 skill set. 

1.5 hours, Gymnast to coach ratio: 7:1


INTERMEDIATE 2

Intermediate 2 class is for gymnasts who can perform the skills learned at the Intermediate 1 level, or have passed the Intermediate 1 class.

1.5 hours, Gymnast to Coach Ratio: 8:1 


INTERMEDIATE 3

Intermediate 3 class is for gymnasts who can perform the skills learned at the Intermediate 2 level, or have passed the Intermediate 2 class. 

This class will prepare them for Team. This class is by invitation only.  2 hours, Gymnast to Coach Ratio: 9:1      


INTERMEDIATE 3 Competitive (pre-team)

For any intermediate 3 gymnasts that would like to compete in the spring

2 hours, 2 times per week. Practice days and times determined Fall 1 Session. Registration is first come first serve. Registration rolls over. Commitment is September- May.  Gymnast to Coach Ratio: 9:1.

Boys are welcome to enroll in all other classes.  We offer the following Boys only classes.


boys basic Events

FOR BOYS AGES 7-16 new to gymnastics

Boys 7-16 years old beginning gymnastics . Boys will practice Floor, Vault, Bars and an introduction to men's gymnastics events. 55 minutes, Gymnast to Coach rati: 6:1


BOYS INTERMEDIATE

For Boys ages 9-16 years who have mastered boys basics

Boys Intermediate: For boys who have tested out of the Boys Basic Events class or have or have taken a year or more of the Boys Intermediate Class in the past. This class utilizes all of the Boys Gymnastic events: Vault, floor, rings, bars, parallel bars, mushroom, pommel horse and pommel vault. Boys will also partake in high impact conditioning, boosting physical activity and improve strength, flexibility and coordination.  Evaluations begin in this Boys Program event meaning gymnasts are encouraged to build off of the skills previously acquired as they continue in our program. 75 min, Gymnast to Coach Ratio: 7:1


BOYS TUMBLING AND TRAMPOLINE

For Boys ages 7-10 years. 

The class focuses on basic gymnastics tumbling and trampoline skills. 55 min, Gymnast to Coach Ratio: 6:1

ADAPTIVE GYMNASTICS

Our Adaptive class is for boys and girls with special needs ages 5 and up.

This class will allow gymnasts to develop physically and socially through gymnastics activities and events. Gymnasts will have the opportunity to explore gymnastics equipment with the assistance of specialized coaches that will make them feel comfortable and safe while having FUN! Children will learn gymnastics skills in small increments, building one skill on another. This class is sure to engage a special needs child’s sensory functions- vision, hearing, tactile sensation, body awareness and movement. Special needs children we serve include but are not limited to those with Autism, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and minor brain injuries.  45 min, Gymnast to coach ratio: 6:1


Tumbling for Dancers (Advanced)

This class will focus on side & front aerials, front and back walkovers variations, front and back handsprings, front tucks and more! 
Kids should have both walkovers and cartwheels to be in the advance class. Class meets 60 min



Home School Classes (school year only):

- Boys Home School: This daytime class class is offered to Boys  4  years and older that are home schooled.  Class will work on a variety of skills appropriate for each gymnast. Class meets 45 min.  

- Beg 1- 3 Home School: This daytime class is offered for those in Beginner 1 to Beginner 3 or children 7 years and older.  Class will work on a variety of skills appropriate for each gymnast. Class meets 75 min. 


- Int 1- Int 3 Home School: This daytime class is for gymnasts who have passes ALL beginner 3 level skills AND based on coaches recommendation. Please see coach for recommendation. Gymnasts will work Intermediate 1-3 level skills. Class meets 75 min. 


HIGH SCHOOL

For 9th- 12 grade student gymnasts during the high school off season. Class meets 2 hours.

Pre- team (Firecrackers)

By Invitation Only. For children 9 and under.  2 practices per week. Enrollment rolls over each session.  Gymnasts to Coach Ratio 8:1


Pre-Team (sparklers)

For gymnasts who can perform the skills learned at the Intermediate 3 level,

First come first serve for any Intermediate 3 gymnasts. 2 hours twice per week. Enrollment rolls over each session.  Gymnasts to Coach Ratio 9:1


TEAM 1-3

The River Falls Gymnastics Club Team Program which compete in the Midwest Amateur Gymnastics Association (MAGA).  Team is by invitation only- all Intermediate 3 gymnasts are considered.  2.5 hours twice per week, Gymnast to Coach Ratio 8:1





Evaluations:

At the end of the session (no formal evaluations Fall 2 & Spring Sessions), gymnasts in Tigers and above receive evaluations with a recommendation from their coach on which class to register for next.  In our program, the average gymnast participates in the following number of sessions before passing the level:

  • Beginner 1: 4 sessions
  • Beginner 2: 3 sessions
  • BEGINNER 3: 3 SESSIONS
  • Intermediate 1: 5 sessions
  • Intermediate 2: 6 sessions
  • Intermediate 3: 7 sessions

Advancing above Intermediate 3 is also dependent on the space available in the Team levels.
